Consuming Canada : readings in environmental history / edited by Chad Gaffield and Pam Gaffield.
Consuming Canada introduces readers to the field of environmental history. This disipline examines the interactions between human beings and the environment rather than viewing people as the sole actors in history. By focusing on studies of the interaction between humans and nature, the readings illustrate the connectedness of all components of the biosphere. The book begins with an overview of the theory and method of environmental history and then examines topics such as pollution and degradation, conservation and regulation, wildlife and resources, and the relationship of the Canadian peoples to the environment at various stages of our history.
