Wren Kauffman : Being a Transgender Boy

Summary: Wren Kauffman is like many pre-teen boys. He loves martial arts. He's a voracious reader. What makes him different from most teenage boys is that Wren used to be known to friends and family as Wrenna. The Current spoke with Wren, his mother Wen, and his little sister Avy at the beginning of the 2013 school year. In April 2014, Wren received an Alberta Great Kid Award for his bravery in sharing his story and inspiring others to live an authentic life. He continues to advocate for LGBTQ issues and was featured in a grade six student exhibition project on LGBTQ human rights.
