The Sharing Economy Cover Image E-video E-video

The Sharing Economy

Summary: Taxis and hotels are two businesses being disrupted by a new business model based on an old idea: sharing. Airbnb, Uber and other online services help connect people willing to offer their underused apartment, automobile passenger space or other assets to those who want access to them. The sharing (or peer-to-peer) economy is worth billions of dollars and growing. But some are raising concerns about the lack of regulations and whether social responsibility is an issue for these start-ups.
