The U.S. Offensive Against Iraq. November 2002

Summary: U.S. President George W. Bush is intent on toppling the regime in Iraq. In a months-long campaign he has challenged the rest of the world to join the United States in destroying the Iraqi government, vowing to do it alone if necessary. Bush claims that the Iraqis pose a threat to the world with the possible use of nuclear weapons or germ warfare. For many, the Bush offensive lacks credibility. The issue is now being debated in world capitals, at the United Nations, and among concerned people who fear the eruption of yet another war in the volatile Mideast.
