Tsunami : The Indian Ocean Disaster February 2005

Summary: On December 26, 2004, a powerful earthquake ruptured the sea floor near the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The quake sent a massive tsunami, or sea surge, smashing into coastal villages and resorts from Asia to Africa. Tens of thousands of people were killed, and millions were left homeless. In this News in Review story we’ll show you the almost unimaginable destruction and human misery left behind by the killer waves. We’ll also look at how Canada joined other countries in a massive relief operation to try to help the survivors.
