Summary: In March 2006, the people of Haiti prepared to vote in a second round of parliamentary elections. In February, they had elected a new president, René Préval. Both votes were delayed by logistical problems and security fears. In this News in Review story we’ll take a look at Haiti’s election process. We’ll also show you why so many of its desperately poor citizens are hoping the election will mean a new start for their troubled land.
