Right to Farm Amendment in Missouri [audiorecording] / Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
This summer the state of Missouri has been debating an amendment to enshrine farming as a constitutional right. At first glance the "right to farm" seems uncontroversial. But some say the amendment is an underhanded attempt to shield big farming and agricultural corporations from public scrutiny, regulation and the enforcement of animal rights rules. As It Happens discusses the issue with Eric Reuter, a small farmer who opposes the measure. (Shortly after this interview, Missouri voters passed the amendment by a very thin margin.)
