Smart Cities : Utopia or Blight?. October 2019 [videorecording] / Canadian Broadcasting Corporation

Summary:

Smart cities are the way of the future. Well-planned, massive projects that promise smarter, efficient, greener living with the promise of economic prosperity. At an estimated cost of one hundred billion dollars Forest City in Malaysia is one of the largest master-planned cities in the world. But the project has met with severe criticism including those who say the Indigenous way of life of the Malaysian people is under threat. The CBC follows Canadian professor Sarah Moser as she explores the cultural politics of this new city.
